About Me

Hello, I'm Gita (they/them). I identify as queer, nonbinary, and biracial (South Asian/white). These are just a few of my identities, but are often the ones that feel helpful for my clients to know.

I was born and raised in Alaska, spending much of my childhood in a dry cabin. My upbringing in a small, rural town fostered a deep connection to nature, an ingrained curiosity, and a strong belief that it is more than just a dream to be in deep, vibrant relationships, friendships, and community.

I eventually moved to Portland, Oregon, where I immersed myself in city life, working in sexual and reproductive health education and advocacy, engaging in the local zine and comic book scene, and completing degrees in Sociology & Psychology and Marriage, Couples, & Family Therapy. I’ve since returned to Alaska, where I am focusing on grounding myself in the activities that bring me joy, such as making art, perusing riverbanks hoping to find agates, and spending time with human and nonhuman friends.

Drawing from my personal experiences and professional background as a therapist, my goal is to help you rediscover your authenticity, self compassion, and self advocacy. I am strongly convinced that you already know who you are and know what you need - my role is to guide you towards acceptance and reconnection with yourself, and to help you find the words to lovingly communicate all of who you are to those that love, care, and show up for you.
